US Green Building Council recently launched their first LEED standard for neighborhood development that is rated on three major environmental areas: Smart Location & Linkage, Neighborhood Pattern & Design, and Green Infrastructure & Buildings. This project encourages development within or near already existing public transportation, communities, schools, retail and service, etc. We've been talking about LEED certified commerical buildings, but now neighborhoods is a great opportunity for the future.
